Accreditation

The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences is accredited by the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS) (American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, Council for Accreditation, 1555 King Street, Alexandria, VA 22314, phone: 703-706-4600). The Didactic Program in Dietetics and the Dietetic Internship are currently granted accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, 120 South Riverside Plaza, Suite 2000, Chicago, IL 60606-6995, phone: 312-899-0040. The Fashion Design Program is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. The Hospitality Management program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration. The Preschool and Toddler Study Laboratories are accredited by The National Association for the Education of Young Children. Family Studies Program is approved by the National Council on Family Relations to offer a program leading to Provisional Family Life Education Certification.
