Nurse Practitioner Certificate for Practicing Nurse Practitioners


This certificate is intended for students who hold a MS in Nursing and who are certified as Nurse Practitioners in a specialty area and wish to add a specialty area. Applications for the Nurse Practitioner Certificate for Practicing Nurse Practitioners will be reviewed individually and pre-testing of prior content mastery may be required depending upon knowledge currency.

This certificate program is eligible for Financial Aid. Please see the department web site for required Federal disclosure information. 

Prerequisites


1. Copies of transcripts of Baccalaureate in Nursing and Masters in Nursing degrees.

2. Copy of unrestricted State of California RN licensure.

3.  Copy of unrestricted license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner.

4 Three letters of reference.

5. Demonstrated content mastery in the areas of Advanced Pathophysiology, Advanced Pharmacology and Advanced Physical Assessment (may require successful completion of pre-test).

6. Completion of the School of Nursing Graduate Program Application and University application.

Requirements


1. Completion of the number of units specified for the Nurse Practitioner area of specialty (either 18 or 21 units) in approved upper division and graduate courses;

2. An overall GPA of 3.0 or better.

Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Specialty (18 Units)


Family Nurse Practitioner Specialty (18 units)


Pediatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Specialty (21 Units)


Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (Across the Lifespan) Specialty (21 Units)


Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner Specialty (21 Units)
