Psychology Minor

The Minor in Psychology is available to any non- Psychology major. Due to the impacted status of the Psychology Department, students wishing to earn a minor must earn a “C” or better in PSY 100 , PSY 110 and PSY 220 , prior to taking any other PSY courses that will count toward the minor.

Requirements

A minimum of 23 units will be required; 9 of which must be upper division.

Take all the following courses:

PSY 100 - General Psychology (3 units)
PSY 110 - Introductory Statistics (4 units)
*Or equivalent course (HDEV 190, SOC 170)
*”C” or better required
PSY 220 - Research Methods (4 units)
PSY 241 - Psychobiology (3 units)

Take 9 upper-division psychology units including at least one course from the following courses:

PSY 331 - Sensation and Perception (3 units)
PSY 332 - Human Cognition (3 units)
PSY 333 - Psychology of Learning (3 units)
PSY 336 - Psychology of Emotion (3 units)
PSY 337 - Psychology of Happiness (3 units)
PSY 340 - Physiology of Behavior (3 units)
PSY 341 - Neuropsychology (3 units)
PSY 342 - Psychopharmacology (3 units)

And at least one course from:

PSY 351 - Social Psychology (3 units)
PSY 356 - Personality (3 units)
PSY 361 - Psychology of Child and Adolescent Development (3 units)
PSY 365 - Development: Emerging Adulthood to Aging (3 units)

And one upper division Psychology elective.
