Health Care Administration, M.S.

Graduates of HCA master’s degree programs will achieve competencies in the areas of (1) communications and relationship management, (2) leadership, (3) professionalism, (4) knowledge of health care environment, and (5) business skills and knowledge. These competencies are the main domains of the model based on the American College of Health Care Executives’ (ACHE) Competency Assessment Tool and Healthcare Leadership Alliance’s (HLA) Competency Directory.

The Program’s curriculum was designed, and has been revised over the years, to provide students with the health care management knowledge and skills necessary to meet the changing needs of the health care industry and to conform to academic accreditation criteria. HCA follows a generalist approach in the design of its program and admits students with diverse backgrounds and experiences.

(For information regarding the College of Professional and International Education’s offering of this program, please see the CPaCE website.)

Application Procedure

Make sure to mark whether you are applying to the Traditional Program or Accelerated Program. Applications are processed using the online Cal State Apply system. Cal State Apply is California State University’s online resource to help you quickly and easily apply for graduate admission. Your letters of recommendation should be from your employer, past employer, or someone who knows your academic abilities.
