C E 502 - Finite Element Method and Applications (3 units)
Prerequisite: C E 458 with a grade of “C” or better or consent of instructor Introduction of the theory of finite element method and its application to mechanics of structures and solids. Variational calculus, discretization of continuum, discrete element stiffness matrices, displacement and force vector, direct stiffness formulation, and solution methods for linear equations.
