Prerequisites: MAE 333 (or C E 335) and MAE 330 with a grade of “C” or better.

Fluid dynamics of flow through turbomachinery, flow turning and work equation, stage efficiency, similitude, performance maps, degree of reaction, cascade aerodynamics, construction of the 2D blade profiles, 3D stacking, radial equilibrium, 2D blade-to-blade and axisymmetric through flow models, performance prediction.

Letter grade only (A-F). (Lecture-Problems 3 hours) Not repeatable for credit.
