CRJU 628 - Queer Criminology (3 units)
Prerequisite(s): A grade of “B” or better in CRJU 501, 504. Provide students with an overview of the field of queer criminology, a subdiscipline of criminology that focuses on the experiences of LGBTQ+ people within the criminal legal system as victims, offenders, subjects of state control, and actors in the system. Covers queer theory, intersectionality, and LGBTQ+ topics, such as the coming out process, family rejection, and chosen family. Focus on major systems: policing, courts, and corrections.
