EDEL 482B - Student Teaching in Bilingual Classrooms
(6 units)
Prerequisite: Advancement to Student Teaching.
Corequisite(s): EDEL 483 - Student Teaching Seminar or EDEL 484 A and EDEL 484 B: Student Teaching Seminar, UTEACH Pathway.
Prerequisite(s)/Corequisite(s): Submission of a complete application to student teach by the deadline and approval for advancement to student teaching by the MSCP Coordinator and/or UTEACH Coordinator.
Must also enroll in EDEL 483: Student Teaching Seminar
or
EDEL 484A (Fall semester) and EDEL 484B (Spring): Student Teaching Seminar UTEACH pathway
BILA Teacher candidates (Spanish, Korean, Mandarin, Vietnamese complete two 8-week student teaching assignments over 16 weeks in diverse public schools. They gradually transition from assisting and co-teaching with a cooperating teacher to solo teaching, supported by a university mentor through regular meetings and observations.
Credit/No Credit; equivalent of “A” or “B” for credit. Course fee may be required. (Approximately 8 hours per week.)
