LING 329 - Introduction to Language Acquisition (3 units)
Prerequisites: Completion of at least 60 units, completion of the entire Foundation, and completion of at least one GE Course from the Explorations stage. Freshmen excluded. Typical development patterns in phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics. Comparison of first and second language acquisition. Influence of biological, social, and cultural factors. Techniques for collecting and analyzing acquisition data. Evaluation of competing theories of acquisition.
Letter grade only (A-F). Not open for credit to students with credit in SLP 329 . Not open for credit to students with credit in: LING 339 , except with advisor permission. |
