Graduate Certificate in Translation Studies (12 units)
The Graduate Certificate in Translation Studies offers training in the practices of applied and theoretical research in translation to prepare future professionals and students for the variety of jobs available in this growing profession, as well as the competencies needed for continued study at the post-baccalaureate level in masters or doctoral programs. The required and elective courses impart a skillset that includes audiovisual and machine translation, literary translation, community translation, and localization. The Certificate is open to students who possess a BA or BS degree in any discipline, an advanced level of competence in a language other than English, and excellent skills in English. Knowledge of a third language is desirable. Note that for this twelve-unit certificate, nine units must be at the graduate level.
