Requirements

The Religious Study major of 36 units is organized into three areas of study: A. Culture, Gender, and Ethics; and B. Judaism, Christianity, and Islam and their Precursors; and C. Indigenous, Hindu, Buddhist, and other Asian Traditions. Additionally, students must take three core courses: R/ST 100, 302, and 401.

Core Courses:

Students must take all three core courses (9 units).

R/ST 100 - The Religious Quest for Meaning (3 units)
R/ST 302 - Faith and Race in America (3 units)
R/ST 401 - Senior Seminar: Theories and Methods in the Study of Religion (3 units)

Area Courses:

Students must take a minimum of 12 units from the following three (A, B, and C) categories, with at least 3 units in each.

Elective (not an Area Course):

Take 15 more units from any R/ST categories A,B, or C, or from the following CLA elective courses.
