Reading and Literacy Added Authorization

This added authorization is granted by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC).

The Reading and Literacy Added Authorization provides classroom teachers with advanced preparation in reading/language arts assessment and instruction, as well as theory and research in teaching reading, grades K-12.

The state requires that a candidate must have three years of teaching experience prior to recommendation for the Reading and Literacy Added Authorization.

Requirements

Take all of the following:

EDRG 540 - Advanced Studies in Literacy (3 units)
EDRG 543 - Integration of Technology in Reading/Language Arts (3 units)
EDRG 551 - Assessment and Instruction in Reading and Writing (3 units)
EDRG 558 - Language Study for Reading Teachers (3 units)
EDRG 559 - Practicum in Teaching Reading/Language Arts (3 units)
