Human Development Minor

The minor in Human Development may be combined with any major at CSULB except Human Development and Liberal Studies, Track II - Human Development Concentration. The minor in Human Development offers students an opportunity to supplement their education with an interdisciplinary study of lifespan development within societal and cultural contexts.

Requirements

The minor consists of a minimum 15 units.

Take one of the following courses:

HDEV 180 - Lifespan Human Development (3 units)
ANTH 120 - Introduction to Cultural Anthropology (3 units)
PSY 100 - General Psychology (3 units)
SOC 100 - Principles of Sociology (3 units)

Take the following courses:

HDEV 307 - Approaches to Childhood (3 units)
OR
HDEV 327 - Approaches to Adolescence and Emerging Adulthood (3 units)
AND
HDEV 357 - Approaches to Adulthood Through Aging (3 units)

Take two of the following courses:

HDEV 190 - Elementary Statistics in Social and Behavioral Sciences (4 units)
HDEV 205 - Immigrant Youth in Long Beach (3 units)
HDEV 300 - Death and Dying (3 units)
HDEV 305 - Life Course and Generation in the Arab World (3 units)

Note

Students must earn a grade of at least “C” or better in all courses.

A minimum of 12 units must be taken in Human Development.
