Traditional Multiple Subject Credential Program Pathway

The Traditional Pathway is the basic Multiple Subject Credential. This pathway is comprised of foundational and subject specific pedagogy course work followed by the student teaching semester. The course work is self-paced and can be completed as a full-time or part-time student.

Corequisites

May be taken prior to or after admission to the MSCP, but must be completed prior to student teaching:

EDEL 413 - Developmentally Appropriate Teaching Practices (2 units)
EDEL 431 - Cultural and Linguistic Diversity in Schools (3 units)

Subject Specific Pedagogy (Teaching Methods)

Students must be officially admitted to the MSCP to take these courses:

EDEL 442 - Teaching and Learning Language Arts, K-8 (3 units)
EDEL 452 - Teaching and Learning Reading, K-8 (3 units)
EDEL 462 - Teaching and Learning Mathematics, K-8 (3 units)
EDEL 472 Teaching and Learning History/Social Science, K-8 (3)
SCED 475 - Teaching and Learning Science, K-8 (3 units)

Student Teaching

All requirements for advancement to student teaching must be met. Students will enroll in two sections of the appropriate student teaching course, for a total of 16 units:

EDEL 482A - Student Teaching in Diverse Classrooms (8 units)
