Nutrition and Food Science, Option in Nutrition, B.S. + Applied Nutrition and Dietetics, M.S.

Students in the Beach EDGE  B.S. Nutrition and Food Science + M.S Applied Nutrition and Dietetics program will complete the requirements for the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Nutrition and Food Science, Option in Nutrition and the Master of Science (M.S.) in Applied Nutrition and Dietetics.

Double-Counting of Courses

The B.S. in Nutrition and Food Science, Option in Nutrition includes a total of 74 units for the major. The M.S. in Applied Nutrition and Dietetics includes a total of 47 units. Students in the Beach EDGE program will have 12 units double count towards both the BS and MS degree programs. These 12 units must be completed in residence at CSULB.

The 12 double-counted units include the courses below: 

• NUTR 500 - Nutrition Assessment   
• NUTR 501 - Evidence-Based Practice and Research Methods   
• NUTR 502 - Foodservice for a Diverse Population   
• NUTR 461 - Community Nutrition  * / NUTR 561 - Community Nutrition * 
  • *Note: Students in the Beach EDGE M.S. should enroll in NUTR 461; Traditional M.S. Graduate students should enroll in NUTR 561.
