Communication Studies, B.A. + M.A.

Students in the Beach EDGE Communication Studies program will complete the requirements for both the B.A. and M.A. in Communication Studies.  

Beach EDGE students in Communication Studies may double-count 9-M.A. elective units towards both their B.A. and M.A. degrees. These 9 units must be completed in residence at CSULB.

Beach EDGE students in Communication Studies may double-count 9-M.A. electives units towards both their B.A. and M.A. degrees.

Students can choose three of the following graduate-level electives (excluding Administering the Forensics Program and Directed Research) to double-count for B.A. and M.A. elective requirements:

• COMM 590A - Theory and Criticism of Presidential Rhetoric   
• COMM 610 - Seminar in Interpersonal Communication   
• COMM 623 - Seminar in Communication Technology and Media   
• COMM 630 - Seminar Intercultural Communication   
• COMM 633 - Seminar in Interpretive Communication   
• COMM 634 - Performance and Ethnography   
• COMM 635 - Seminar in Communication Criticism   
• COMM 636 - Seminar in American Public Communication   
• COMM 637 - Seminar in International Public Communication   
• COMM 639 - Seminar in Communication and Popular Culture   
• COMM 644 - Seminar in Applied Communication   
• COMM 650 - Seminar in Instructional Communication   

Graduate core classes (COMM 541, COMM 546, COMM 641, COMM 646) cannot count for B.A. requirements. These courses also cannot be taken unless in graduate status.
