Theatre Arts Minor

This minor may be combined with any major at CSULB except the BA in Theatre Arts. Students are admitted to the minor after having completed a minimum of 30 units of college level course work including all 12 units of General Education Foundation courses.

Minimum 2.5 GPA or higher for: Cumulative, CSULB, and Major GPA.

Requirements

A minimum of 18 units is required for the minor.

Take all of the following:

THEA 103 - Text Analysis (3 units)
THEA 221 - History of Theatre and Drama to 1660 (3 units)
THEA 222 - History of Theatre and Drama Since 1660 (3 units)

Take one of the following:

THEA 114A - Fundamentals of Acting (3 units)
THEA 142 - Stagecraft (3 units)
THEA 146 - Costume Crafts (3 units)
THEA 148 - Stage Lighting and Sound (3 units)
THEA 271 - Stage Management (3 units)

Take 6 units from the following:

THEA 324 - Theatre Today (3 units)
THEA 327 - Theatre, Protest, and Social Change (3 units)
THEA 341 - Presentation Techniques for Theatre (3 units)
THEA 344 - Theatrical Makeup Design (3 units)
THEA 352 - Foundations of Visual Expression (3 units)
THEA 365 - Improvisation and Comedy (3 units)
THEA 380 - Playwriting (3 units)
THEA 418 - Theatre of Community Engagement (3 units)
THEA 425 - Theatre and Cinema (3 units)
THEA 426 - Dramatic Theory and Criticism (3 units)
