Kinesiology, Fitness Option, B.S.


(120 units)

This degree is approved for distance education by the WSCUC.

Students pursuing the Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology must complete the course requirements and the physical fitness proficiency of each Option. Students may select their area of specialization from the options.

Degree Progress for Pre-Kinesiology Majors

Pre-Kinesiology Fitness majors must complete the following requirements by the time they earn 60 units.

Pre-Kinesiology Fitness students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and a minimum GPA of 2.5 in all required major preparation course work (see Major Specific Criteria). By that time they earn 60 units, Pre-Kinesiology students must be eligible to be fully declared into the intended option within Kinesiology.

Degree Note


Each major course and prerequisite course must be completed with a grade of “C” or better. A course in which a grade lower than a “C” is received must be retaken and successfully completed prior to enrolling in any other course for which it is a prerequisite.

Requirements


Take 1 unit selected from the following (1 unit):


  • KIN 100-198 (1 unit)
  • KIN 250- 261 (1 unit)

Take one of the following courses (3 units):


Note: Courses are listed elsewhere in the program and can only be used to satify one degree requirement.

Take a minimum of 2 units selected from different classes. (This is in addition to the core activity reqiuirements listed earlier.)

Courses marked with * may only be taken as elective course if not used for upper division required course. A fieldwork, field experience, or internship requires current certification in First Aid (American Red Cross: Community First Aid & Safety or Emergency Response or Workplace Training: Standard First Aid or equivalent) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (American Red Cross: Adult CPR or Adult,  Infant & Child CPR or CPR for the Professional Rescuer; American Heart Association: Adult CPR or Adult, Infant & Child CPR or ACLS Provider or equivalent) prior to enrollment.
