Introduction
The Speech-Language Pathology Department provides coursework for students planning to pursue careers in speech‑language pathology or audiology. Departmental majors may complete work leading to the Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech-Language Pathology and Master of Arts degree in Speech‑Language Pathology. Students who earn the Master’s degree qualify for the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, the Speech-Language Pathology Services Credential from the California Commission for Teacher Credentialing, and the State of California Licensure in Speech-Language Pathology. Students pursuing the B.A. degree may qualify for State of California Licensure as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant.
The department maintains a Speech and Language clinic to serve as a clinical and research laboratory on campus for both graduate and undergraduate students. Field placements are available in local hospitals, rehabilitation agencies, language/speech/hearing clinics, and public schools.
