Scholarships
The Department of English annually gives many scholarships and awards to outstanding undergraduate and graduate students. Information about these scholarships and awards is available from the Department office and at the Center for Scholarship Information, Beach scholarships.
Single Subject Teaching Credential in English
In addition to meeting the subject matter competence requirement for the Single Subject Teaching Credential in English, prospective English teachers are also required to complete 45 units of professional preparation in the Single Subject Credential Program, including student teaching. Refer to the Single Subject Teacher Education section of this catalog or the website (Single Subject Credential Program website) for a description of professional preparation requirements, courses, and application procedures. Prospective students should consult the department’s English Education Advisor early to plan their program.
Graduate Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages
