ERTH 363 - Earth Materials (4 units)
Prerequisites: GEOL 102, GEOL 104, GEOL 240, and CHEM 111B. Introduction to the minerals and rocks that form the solid Earth. Course emphasizes identification of major rock forming minerals and minerals with economic value as well as the formation of the three major rock types and how they relate to plate tectonic settings. Analysis of how specific minerals contribute to the water chemistry, soils and thus human health.
Letter grade only (A-F). (Lecture 3 hrs., laboratory 3 hrs., field trip) .Not open for credit to students with prior credit in GEOL 363.
