HIST 457 - Cycles of Violence in Mexico (3 units)
Prerequisites: GE Foundation; Upper-division status. This course is an exploration of the relationship between violence and revolutionary change in twentieth-century Mexico. Topics include how the postrevolutionary state and its adversaries mobilized memories of the revolution to meet their particular political and social ends; the dirty war of the 1970s; and the drug war that began in 2006.
Both grading options. Not repeatable for credit.
