CRJU 625 - Collateral Consequences of Incarceration

Prerequisites: A grade of “B” or better in CRJU 501 and CRJU 504;or consent of instructor. Open to Criminology & Criminal Justice master’s students only or graduate advisor permission.
Explores secondary impacts of incarceration beyond the obvious and initial implications of sending an individual to jail or prison. Discussion in this course will include collateral sanctions for those who are incarcerated and coming home after serving a sentence. Secondary impacts will be explored for children and families left behind, as well as correctional staff and their families, and the community at large.

Letter grade only (A-F). Field trips may be required. Not repeatable for credit. Double Numbered with: CRJU 425.
