Prerequisites: BIOL 212, CHEM 220B and either CHEM 320L or CHEM 223B all with a grade of “C” or better. First semester of a two-semester sequence (CHEM 441A and CHEM 441B) in biochemistry. Chemical and mathematical treatment of energetics and kinetics of reactions in living systems, including chemistry and metabolism of carbohydrates and chemistry of proteins.
