HDEV 403 - The Acquisition of Culture: Socialization in Cross-cultural Perspective

Prerequisites: HDEV 320 with a “C” or better and HDEV 340 or HDEV 360 with a “C” or better; or consent of the instructor. Examination of socialization as both a universal and culturally specific phenomenon. Topics include cross-cultural variations in teaching and learning; socialization of children and adult novices; socialization as key aspect of social and cultural reproduction and source of innovation and change.
