PHYS 151 - Mechanics and Heat

Prerequisite/Corequisite: MATH 122.

First course in introductory calculus-based physics sequence. Topics covered include kinematics, forces and Newton’s laws; conservation of energy and momentum; elastic and inelastic collisions; angular momentum; engines; entropy. The laboratory portion of the course investigates these topics experimentally or with computational modeling of mechanical systems.

Letter grade only (A-F). (Lecture 3 hrs., laboratory 3 hrs.)
