CRJU 602 - Crime and Inequality

Prerequisite(s): A grade of “B” or better in CRJU 504 or consent of instructor. Open to Criminology & Criminal Justice master’s students only or graduate advisor permission.
Explores variability in the perpetration, apprehension, prosecution, and punishment of crime, as well as criminal victimization, by race, class, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and immigration status. Focuses on patterns of over-representation and critically evaluates the major explanations for this phenomenon.
