CECS 381 - Stochastic Computing


(3 units)

Prerequisite: CECS 229 with a grade of C or better.
Applications of probability and statistics to computing. Topics include axioms of probability,  random variables and their statistics, discrete and continuous probability distributions, Chernoff bounds, randomized algorithms, Markov chains, Monte Carlo simulation, regression techniques. Programming assignments provided.

Letter grade only (A-F). (Lecture-Problems 3 hours) Not repeatable for credit.
