The Jain tradition upholds reverence for all sentient life and nonviolence to each being. This principle has significance for how we live, interact with fellow beings and creatures, and relate to nature. Jain ethics has influenced major leaders such as Mahatma Gandhi, and MLK Jr, in their nonviolent struggle for social justice, civil rights and ecological care.
